Kent Gears Up to Welcome Over 1,600 Ukrainian Refugees
Kent is bracing to host 1,624 Ukrainians fleeing the war, matched with 709 local sponsors under the Homes for Ukraine Scheme. The county council is pulling out all the stops to make the newcomers feel at home.

Kent County Council (KCC) is on the frontline, conducting DBS checks on all host families to ensure safety. They’re also offering English lessons for Ukrainian adults and arranging school places for children across Kent’s primary and secondary schools. The Kent Adult Education service is stepping in to help with education for young people too.
