Thousands Rally in Hove for Gaza Ceasefire
Over a thousand people gathered at Hove’s Peace Statue at 2 pm to back the Brighton & Hove Ceasefire Coalition’s urgent call for a ceasefire in Gaza. The crowd waved banners and beat drums, demanding an immediate end to the conflict with a passionate #CeasefireNOW message.
March Turns into Heartfelt Memorial
The march wasn’t just about protest. At the end, demonstrators created a poignant memorial using signs, toys, shrouds, and shoes. This touching tribute highlighted the devastating human cost of the conflict, especially for children.
Speakers and Young Leaders Take the Stage
Voices from Sussex Uni Palestine Society, Brighton & Hove Action for Palestine, the L3Harris arms factory campaign, and Parents 4 Palestine inspired the crowd. The march was led by determined young activists, showing the movement’s fiery commitment to peace.
Candlelit Tribute for Fallen Children
The event closed with a moving vigil around a decorated tree. Candles and posters were left in memory of the roughly 50 children who have tragically died amid the violence.
The Brighton & Hove Ceasefire Coalition thanked everyone who joined, highlighting the community’s united stand for peace and solidarity with Gaza.
