Finbar Sullivan Killed in Brutal Stabbing
Finbar Sullivan, a 21-year-old filmmaking student, was tragically stabbed to death in Primrose Hill, northwest London, just 10 days ago. Finbar was testing a new camera he’d received for his birthday when he got caught in a sudden outbreak of extreme violence. He was punched, kicked to the ground, then fatally stabbed – all in an unprovoked attack.
Three Men Charged with Murder
Police have charged three men over Finbar’s death: Oliuwadamilola Ogunyankinnu, 27, Alexis Bidace, 25, and Ernest Boateng, 25. The chilling attack shocked the community and sparked heated debate online.
Dad Slams Racism: “Blame Government, Not Minorities”
Finbar’s dad, Chris Sullivan, 65, has slammed attempts to blame immigrants or minorities for the tragedy. He told the Camden New Journal:
“I’m sick of the hate being directed at minorities. It’s the government and the Met Police who are to blame, not immigrants, not black kids.” “Fin was proud to be a Londoner – proud of this multiracial, wonderful city. His colour, race or creed had nothing to do with this. It’s a class issue created by government neglect.” “We’ve thrown our teenagers on the scrapheap – no housing, no jobs, no university places, no hope. The government sanctions thousands of child deaths. How can they be surprised at violence? The message young people get is that life doesn’t matter, especially if you’re not white.” “I’ll make it my mission for Finbar to be a wake-up call to everyone who can see what’s going on.”
Media and Cuts Fuel Knife Crime, Dad Says
Chris Sullivan, who has previously made a documentary series about gangs, blames sensational headlines for worsening knife crime. He added:
“If these papers keep screaming ‘knife crime, knife crime’, kids will carry knives. Imagine being 20 and not feeling safe walking down the street – even in Primrose Hill, a posh part of London.”
Chris also runs Artists for Gaza, a charity hosting benefit concerts. The next event, planned for May, will be held in Finbar’s memory.
