Free BMX Track Set to Thrill Portsmouth Riders This Easter!
A brand-new, free BMX track is hitting Portsmouth this Easter, promising non-stop action for bikers of all ages. From Friday 25 March to Thursday 7 April, gear up and ride from 11am to 4pm opposite the Blue Lagoon.
Grade-A BMX Fun for All Ages and Skill Levels
Organised by Portsmouth City Council, this temporary BMX track welcomes everyone – from beginners to pros. If you don’t have a bike, no worries. Free bikes, expert instructors, and safety kit are all on hand to get you rolling safely.
Not Just Any Track – It’s a Trial for a Permanent Ride
The track features a variety of portable ramps, including flat banks, driveways, quarter pipes, roll-ins, and fly-offs, which can be switched up to keep riders on their toes.
Council Leader Cllr Donna Jones said: “This is a great free facility for people to use over the Easter break. I’m really pleased we’ve been able to provide it.”
She added, “It will also be a useful trial for the idea of a permanent track. We’re committed to developing facilities across Portsmouth, which is why we’re exploring a BMX track in the north of the city.”
City Backing from Locals and Leaders
A recent survey showed huge support, with 78% of locals saying they or someone in their family would use a BMX track, and 91% calling it a boon for the area.
Plans for a permanent BMX track will require planning permission, but this Easter trial ride could be the start of something big for Portsmouth’s BMX scene.
