Sham Gardener Rips Off Pensioner for £460 in Pennington

Police have released an e-fit of a man they want to quiz after an elderly woman was conned out of a whopping £460 in Pennington. The dodgy gardener showed up at her Hillside Road home between 9am and midday on November 11.

Overcharged for a Spot of Garden Work

The man offered to do some gardening and worked for about an hour. Then he slapped on a sky-high bill – £460 in cold cash, which the vulnerable woman sadly handed over.

Police Hunt Fraudster Who Failed to Provide Any ID

Detective Constable David Wheeler blasted the scammer. “This man charged an excessive amount of money for the very small amount of work he did. He targeted this vulnerable woman and demanded an unreasonable fee.”

The fraudster didn’t give her a receipt or any paperwork. DC Wheeler added, “He committed fraud by false representation, knowing the job should’ve cost a lot less.”
