Manchester Arena Terror: Hampshire Police on High Alert
After the horrifying terror attack at Manchester Arena, Chief Constable Olivia Pinkney has issued a powerful statement. “Our thoughts are with all those affected by the events in Manchester last night; with the families, friends and loved ones of all those killed and injured,” she said.
Security Tightened Across Hampshire and Isle of Wight
Pinkney confirmed that Hampshire police are reviewing and ramping up security for upcoming events across the region. “We have reviewed, and will continue to review, our security plans and capability, including around all pre-planned events taking place in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in the coming weeks,” she explained.
Working closely with event organisers, officers are making sure all large-scale events are as safe as possible. “It is normal procedure for us to work with event organisers in the run up to all large scale events to ensure they can run these safely and securely,” Pinkney added.
Nationwide Cooperation and Constant Vigilance
The police are not acting alone. “We will also continue to link in with our colleagues at Greater Manchester Police, the National Police Chiefs Council and the South East Counter Terrorism Unit,” Pinkney said.
She urged the public to stay alert but calm. “I urge the community to remain alert but not alarmed – we, together with our partners, are doing everything we can to help protect the public, the security of our communities, public places and businesses.”
