One dead, eight hurt after van ploughs into Muslim worshippers in Finsbury Park terror attack

A horrific terror attack in north London left one man dead and eight others critically injured after a white hire van slammed into 11 worshippers outside a Muslim welfare centre. The shocking incident happened at the junction of Whadcoat Street and Seven Sisters Road following midnight prayers.

Van driver shouts “I want to kill all Muslims”

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that two more victims were treated at the scene. The driver, a 48-year-old white man, was wrestled to the ground by brave members of the public and shielded by the centre’s Imam from an angry crowd.

Eyewitnesses revealed chilling details of the attack. One said the driver screamed, “I want to kill all Muslims.” Another, Adil Rana, 24, described how the van sped toward the group with intent: “The van was driving towards us to try and basically hit us at speed.”

Arrested driver taunts police: “I’d do it again”

After his arrest, the suspect reportedly taunted officers, saying, “I’d do it again, I’d do it again.” The 48-year-old remains in hospital for precautionary mental health checks but is held on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police respond within minutes as terror probe launched

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu confirmed the attack is being investigated as terrorism. Police received calls at 00:21 and were already close by, responding instantly. Additional units arrived within 10 minutes to secure the scene.
