QA Hospitial Carillon Staff only being paid until 1st February
800 staff at QA Hospital who work for collapsed firm, Carillion, have been told they will only be paid up until 1st February. Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs QUeen Alexandra in Cosham, said, “Discussions are ongoing about appointing a successor to Carillion.” The UK’s second-largest construction company was in charge of a number of services at QA including maintenance, parking and security. It buckled under the weight of a whopping £1.5billion debt pile. Despite discussions between Carillion, its lenders and the government, no deal could be reached to save the company. It employs about 20,000 people in the UK and has more staff abroad.
