Over 200 fire fighters tackle blazing building in Romsey

Some 200 firefighter personnel and 32 fire appliances are currently tackling a blaze at the Potters Heron Hotel in Romsey this evening (Monday 19th March 2018) Fire crews from across Hampshire, Berkshire and Dorest are fighting the fire that has ripped through the roof of the property. Police have closed the A3090 in both directions and have advised the public to avoid the area. The fire is understood to have started in the snow covered thatch roof. Fire crews are likely to remain at the incident well into day break of Tuesday. It is understood that a major salvage operation inside the building is taking place. This is the biggest fire Hampshire fire and rescue service have ever tackled. More to follow
