Firefighters battle car fire by the Hare and Hounds
Freifghters have extinguished a car fire outside the Hare and Hounds in Arreton this afternoon The blaze took hold of a Black BMW X5 at around 4.50pm and no-one was injured during the incident.
A spokeswoman for Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue said: “We were called at 4.40pm to reports of a car on fire, we sent one fire engine from Newport The spokesman confirmed one crew attended at 4.55pm and found the vehicle ‘well alight’. They added: “Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using two hose reels. The car was severely damaged by the blaze.” The incident has now been left with the police to recover the vehicle. Traffic is still very heavy in the area as a result of a road closure that was put in place whilst crews tackled the blaze. Police have now closed the road at the Arreton roundabout.
