Boy rescued from Mud by Coastguard and Fire Service off Hayling Island

Hayling and Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team have carried out a joint rescue with Hampshire fire and rescue service this evening. Emergency services where called just after 6pm on Sunday evening to a person stuck in the mud by Hayling Yacht Services. A lifeboat from Portsmouth was also tasked to rescue the casualty who was approximately 20m from hard ground. Despite best efforts there wasn’t enough water for the lifeboat to get close enough. Rescuers stood by as Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service secured the casualty using an inflatable mud path. With the casualty safely ashore having been rescued by the fire service the youngest was left in the hand of paramedics from South central Ambulance service.
