Fire Crews Called to Tackle Battersea Tower Block Blaze

Eight fire engines and 58 firefighters and officers have been called to a fire at block of flats in Winstanley Road, Battersea. Part of a 13th floor flat was damaged by fire. The Brigade’s 999 control officers took 25 calls about the fire. It is understood that the fire has broken out in one of the upper floors and footage from the scene shows smoke emitting from at least one of the flats. The Metropolitan Police Service have also been called to help with road closures near the scene. The Fire Service said that it was called at just after 1pm on Monday and the fire was under control at after 2pm . Fire crews from Battersea, Clapham, Wandsworth, Chelsea, Fulham, Tooting, Lambeth, and Brixton fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
