Stay Back from Bloody Cliff Edges – Your Life’s Not Worth a Selfie!
Listen up! No snap or selfie is worth dying for. The UK’s coastline looks stunning, but the cliffs are crumbling fast. Bits fall off all the time – from tiny rocks to chunks as big as a car. And here’s the kicker: you never know when the next piece will come crashing down or how massive it’ll be.
Cliffs Are Falling – Stay Well Away!
Heavy rain makes cliff edges even more unstable. Recent months have seen a spate of collapses all around the UK coast. Cracks can appear well away from the edge, so there’s no such thing as a “safe” spot. Don’t even think about creeping close for a flashy shot – it’s a death trap.
Follow These Safety Rules or Risk Disaster
- If you spot anyone struggling, ring 999 and ask for the Coastguard immediately.
- Wear sturdy shoes or boots. Coastal paths can be tough going.
- Check the weather and tidal times before heading out.
- Always carry a fully charged mobile and tell someone your plans.
- Stick to marked paths and respect warning signs and fences.
- Never try climbing cliffs without proper training and gear.
- When at the bottom of cliffs, keep a distance at least equal to the height of the cliff – if it’s 25 metres high, stay 25 metres away.
Be smart, be safe, and don’t let a selfie be your last snap!
