Drunk Dad Sparks Scare at Newport Library After Approaching Kids

Police and paramedics rushed to Newport Library on the Isle of Wight this evening after a drunken man tried to approach a group of youngsters.

Man Attempts to Grab Children

The 51-year-old, reportedly intoxicated, moved towards a group of children. Some kids pushed him away, causing him to fall and cut the back of his head.

Paramedics Treat Head Injury

Emergency services from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police, along with Island ambulance crews, arrived at Orchard Street at 5.41pm. Paramedics treated the man’s head wound on-site.

Police Resolve Incident Without Charges

Officers also spoke to a second man, aged 19, connected to the incident. Both parties agreed to a community resolution, which usually involves an apology and sidesteps criminal proceedings.
