Police appeal after Heron is Killed with BB Gun

Police are appealing for information after the death of a wild bird in Hartley Wintney. A heron was killed at around 8.15pm on Saturday 14 July at Causeway Pond on Cricket Green. Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, it is illegal to intentionally kill, injure or take any wild bird. Police believe an airgun or BB gun was used to kill the bird. Officers are particularly keen to trace a dark grey, C-reg Ford Focus that was seen in the area at the time.
