Emergency crews rushed to a serious crash on Newport Road between Ventnor and Wroxall this morning. All three emergency services are at the scene following the collision.
Serious Crash Shuts Newport Road
The incident happened just after 10am on Wednesday in Upper Ventnor. Firefighters are working to secure the area while police have closed the road and launched an investigation.
Air Ambulance Airlifts Injured Motorcyclist
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance arrived to treat a man in his 40s after his motorbike collided with a blue Hyundai. The rider suffered suspected broken pelvis and arm injuries and was airlifted to southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries.
Bus Routes Diverted Due to Closure
Southern Vectis has confirmed buses are being diverted via Godshill, Whitwell, and Ventnor as the crash causes road closures and delays.
“Officers were called at 9.49am to a collision involving a car and a motorbike on Newport Road,” said a Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson. “The male motorcyclist has been injured.”
