Holiday Maker Mum and Two Young Children Rescue from the Sea near Cowes

Mother and Two young Children have been cut off on a beach and needed rescuing from rising tide near the Gunard Sail Club this afternoon. (Sunday, August 19th) A coastguard search and rescue team from the Needles and the RNLI Cowes lifeboat were scrambled and have successful rescue a mother and two young children who are on holiday staying at the Thorness Bay holiday park. It is understood that the mum and children had been cut off in the water for sometime and said to be very tired. The trio was rescued and then transported by their caravan by the Coastguard search team. The mum and children are understood to have escaped injury. A spokesman from Cowes RNLI said: ++++ LAUNCH ++++ B859 Sheena Louise was tasked by HM Coastguard to assist a mother and two children walking the shore from Thorness to Gurnard and had got cut off by a rising tide. On arrival the lifeboat crew took the family on board and delivered them to Gurnard Marsh beach and the waiting Needles Coastguard Team who in turn drove them back to their holiday park at Thorness. Launched 3.08pmand returned 3.50pm Two of the crew ashore to assist the family board the lifeboat
