Arson charge following Margate food store fire

A 32-year-old man is to appear in court charged in connection with a fire at a Margate food store. Richard Stent, of Granville Street, Dover, was charged with one count of arson with intent to endanger life. The charge follows a report of a fire within Tesco Express in Canterbury Road during the morning of Wednesday 13 March 2019. Mr Stent appeared via virtual link at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 14 March 2019 and was remanded in custody. He will next appear at Canterbury Crown Court on 11 April 2019.
