New CCTV Footage Released in Hunt for Murder Suspects After 98-Year-Old Dies in Home Invasion
Police have launched a fresh appeal over the brutal robbery that led to the death of 98-year-old Peter Gouldstone. Officers investigating the savage attack at his Enfield home on 6 November 2018 have uncovered new CCTV footage and are urging the public to come forward with information.
Fatal Attack Followed Brutal Home Burglary
Mr Gouldstone was found with serious head injuries and bruises at his home on 1 Road, Enfield. Despite being rushed to hospital, the elderly man tragically died weeks later. Detectives from the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command are probing the savage incident and an earlier attempted burglary just a street away.
The attempted break-in happened at 8:25pm on 5 November 2018 — the very same evening Mr Gouldstone’s home was targeted.
CCTV Captures Suspects Scouting Property
New footage shows two men sneaking into a backyard, peering through windows, and trying doors before fleeing the scene. Detective Inspector Alison Cole said:
“We believe at least three men were involved in this attempted burglary and want to speak to them urgently. We’re calling on anyone who recognises these men to come forward — no detail is too small.”
She added: “Mr Gouldstone’s death was a tragic result of a senseless attack in his own home. We’re doing everything to bring justice for his family.”
Police Issue Warning Over Stolen TV
Officers are also warning the public to be alert for a 26-inch Panasonic television, model TX-L26X10B, stolen from Mr Gouldstone’s property. Anyone offered this TV should contact the police immediately.
