Seven Arrested Over Fatal Queensbury Shooting

Detectives have cracked on the fatal shooting of Leon Maxwell, 38, in Queensbury last May, making seven arrests so far.

Youth Among Seven Held

On Tuesday 26 March, an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He’s since been bailed until mid-April.

The next day, police swooped in North West London, arresting six more. Among them:

  • A 19-year-old woman suspected of conspiracy to murder.
  • A 16-year-old boy also held on conspiracy to murder charges.
  • A 24-year-old man, arrested for conspiracy to murder and possession with intent to supply cannabis.
  • A 17-year-old boy, suspected of conspiracy to murder and cannabis supply.
  • Another 16-year-old boy wanted for conspiracy to murder and cannabis supply involvement.
  • A 21-year-old man arrested purely for possession with intent to supply cannabis.

All six remain in custody at north London police stations as the investigation continues.

Horrific Night in Queensbury

Police were called at 9.02pm on 1 May 2019 to reports of a shooting near Queensbury tube station on Cumberland Road. Officers and the London Ambulance Service found Leon Maxwell with a gunshot wound. Tragically, he died at the scene just under an hour later.

A post-mortem confirmed death was caused by the gunshot wound. The homicide probe is headed by Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin from the Major Crime Command.
