Fifth Teen Arrested in Hackney Murder of 15-Year-Old Tashaûn Aird
New Arrest Made in Shocking Teen Killing
Police have arrested a fifth teenager in connection with the brutal murder of 15-year-old Tashaûn Aird in Hackney. A 14-year-old boy was taken into custody on Wednesday, 3 July, at a south London police station for questioning.
He has since been released under investigation, but police say inquiries are ongoing as the investigation heats up.
Four Other Teens Already Charged
Earlier, four other teenagers faced charges over Tashaûn’s killing. A 15-year-old boy appeared at the Old Bailey on Monday, 17 June, charged with murder, wounding with intent (Section 18), and possession of an offensive weapon.
The court has set his trial date for Monday, 28 October at the Old Bailey.
Three More Teens Await Court Appearances
Three other boys – aged 18, 16, and 15 – are also charged with Tashaûn’s murder. They will appear for a pretrial plea and directions hearing at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 25 July.
