Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Oxford. Officers were called on Thursday (18/7) following reports of an altercation involving two men in Cowley Road. Officers attended the scene where a 57-year-old man had sustained head injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died this afternoon (20/7). A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident. He is currently in police custody. Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Mike Roddy, of the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation into this incident, which has tragically resulted in a man losing his life. “I know that this incident will cause concern in the community but I would like to reassure people that we believe this to be an isolated incident, and that officers have made an arrest. “Members of the public might see an increased police presence in the area while we are carrying out our investigation. “If you have any questions at all, feel free to approach our officers. “I would also like to speak to anyone who has any information which they think could help our investigation. “If you have any details which you think are relevant, please call the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number on 101, quoting reference number 429 (19/7).” Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or make a report online.
