Fatal Hit-and-Run Shakes Dagenham at Dawn
Police are hunting witnesses after a deadly collision on the A13 in Dagenham left a 36-year-old man dead early Sunday morning. Officers were called at 3:50am on 15 September following reports of a man seriously injured on the west-bound carriageway.
Driver Flees Scene, Then Returns
The driver, behind the wheel of a black BMW 5 Series, initially sped off but returned shortly after. London Ambulance rushed to the scene, but tragically the victim was pronounced dead at the spot. A post mortem confirmed he died from multiple injuries.
Victim Linked to Local Nightclub
Investigations revealed the man had been at Gomora nightclub on Ripple Road before the fatal collision. He was walking along the road when he was struck. The abandoned BMW was later found over a mile away near the Roundhouse pub on Porters Avenue.
Suspect Arrested and Released Under Investigation
The 39-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence. He has been released under investigation as police continue their enquiries.
