Massive Barn Blaze Rages in Marden
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) is battling a huge barn fire on Tilden Lane, Marden. The emergency call came in just before 9.30pm.
Huge Fire Crew Deployed
Six fire engines, a command support unit, a bulk water carrier, and around 32 firefighters are on the scene. The barn, roughly 40 by 50 metres, holds about 350 bales of hay, all ablaze.
Flames Visible for Miles
The fire can be seen from nearly six miles away. Crews are working hard to stop the flames from spreading to nearby barns packed with costly farming equipment. Owners are devastated by the loss.
Fire Contained but Smouldering
At this stage, the cause of the fire is unknown. A defensive approach is in place, with firefighters staying on site to tackle any flare-ups. The blaze is now contained but expected to burn for several days.
