Woman Jailed for Stabbing Death of 22-Year-Old Sahkira Loseke
Siobhan Collins-Grant, 26 and homeless, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Sahkira Loseke at the Old Bailey on 12 March. The following day, she was sentenced to eight years behind bars.
Fatal Stabbing Sparks Murder Probe
Police were called to Belmont Street at 11.12pm on 8 September 2019 after reports of a stabbing. Officers found 22-year-old Sahkira with a serious chest wound. Despite emergency efforts, she died at the scene.
A post-mortem revealed a single stab had pierced Sahkira’s aorta and heart, causing her death.
Row Outside Flats Ends in Tragedy
On the night of the attack, Collins-Grant had returned to a Belmont Street address where she previously lived to gather belongings. She brought a group of female friends. At the same time, Sahkira and two others arrived. Both groups knew each other.
Tensions flared outside a block of flats. Although Collins-Grant hadn’t spoken to Sahkira before, witnesses say she suddenly ran at her, punched her, and then stabbed Sahkira twice in the chest with a knife.
After Sahkira collapsed, Collins-Grant fled, briefly coming back and saying, “What have I done?” She then threw the knife into Regent’s Canal, where police later recovered it.
Backstory of Violence and Arrest
Collins-Grant handed herself in to police on 12 September. She was charged the next day with murder and carrying a knife in public. Investigations uncovered a previous nightclub confrontation between the two women weeks earlier, hinting at a bitter feud that ended in tragedy.
