Chaos on M25 as Man Crashes Twice in Early Morning Smash
A man caused chaos on the M25 this morning after being involved in two separate collisions just after 6am.
Sequence of Crashes on Busy Motorway
The drama unfolded on the M25 clockwise, between junctions 7 and 8. First, the driver of a black Vauxhall Astra smashed into a nearside bridge barrier and a heavy goods vehicle (HGV). Moments later, the same man collided with a second HGV in lane three.
Injuries Not Life-Threatening but Serious Delay Ensues
The Vauxhall driver was rushed to hospital by ambulance. Thankfully, his injuries are not thought to be life-changing. Despite this, the M25 was shut down completely clockwise until nearly noon. This was to allow an air ambulance to land (although the patient was transported by road), for collision investigators to do their job, and to clear the wreckage.
Police Hunt Witnesses as Delays Hit Thousands
Surrey Police thanked motorists stuck in the lengthy closure for their patience. They are now appealing for witnesses, especially anyone with dashcam or helmetcam footage.
- If you saw the crashes or the driving of the Vauxhall Astra or the HGVs beforehand, call Surrey Police on 101.
