Firearm Seized and Two Arrested in Carshalton Sting
Police have recovered a loaded air rifle and arrested two suspects in a dramatic operation in Carshalton.
Met’s Flying Squad Make Move in Sutton
Officers stopped a vehicle on Gander Green Lane, Sutton, at around 3pm on Wednesday, 1 July. The move was part of an armed surveillance probe linked to a firearm incident in Carshalton on 17 June.
Loaded Air Rifle, Knives, Cannabis Found
- A 40-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were detained on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear, possession of an offensive weapon, and intent to supply a Class B drug.
- During the vehicle search, cops found a loaded air rifle, a knife, and a large stash of cannabis.
- A follow-up search of the man’s home uncovered four more air weapons, 10 hunting knives, and a crossbow.
Detective Praises Officers’ “Exceptional Work”
Detective Chief Inspector James Mason said: “This was exceptional work by the officers who showed great determination during the pursuit and arrest of these individuals. This operation has resulted in two arrests which passed without incident, and a number of weapons which now cannot find themselves on London’s streets. Operations like these are evidence of our unrelenting commitment to tackling violent crime and making London’s streets safer for all.”
Both suspects remain in custody at Wandsworth Police Station while enquiries continue.
