Repeat Offender Tobias Denyer Jailed for 44 Weeks Over Anti-Social Spree

Tobias Denyer, 38, has finally been locked up for 44 weeks at Hastings Magistrates Court on 14 September. His sentence follows relentless anti-social behaviour that plagued local communities.

From Brighton to Eastbourne: Denyer’s Troubled Trail

Denyer was first slapped with a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from Brighton city centre. Not one to learn, he moved on but quickly sparked trouble again, this time in Eastbourne. The authorities hit him with a second CBO barring him from the town centre.

Earlier this year, police tried adjusting his CBO conditions to tackle his behaviour more effectively while offering support. But their patience ran out.

Three Arrests in One Month and Still No Change

September saw Denyer arrested three times for breaching his CBO and causing public nuisance. On 12 September, officers caught him swearing and abusing passers-by in Grove Road, Eastbourne, breaking his latest order. He was immediately remanded in custody.

PC Franklin-Lester of the Eastbourne Prevention Team said: “We have repeatedly worked with Denyer to reduce his offending but he does not appear to take the advice we and partner agencies have offered him. He has left us no choice but to arrest him and apply for him to be remanded in custody.

“We hope he can have a period of reflection and will be released with a change in his attitude and the way he treats others. Residents and visitors should be able to go about their daily lives without fear of unprovoked abuse by Denyer.”
