Vile Robber Pushes 60s Woman Over at Grimsby ATM
Steven McGuire, 40, from Edmonds Way, pleaded guilty to mugging a woman in her 60s at an Old Market Place ATM in Grimsby on 12 April 2020.
Shocking Attack in Broad Daylight
Detective Constable Chris Clarke revealed the victim, aged 63, was withdrawing cash around 12:30pm when McGuire sneaked up behind her. As the money came out, he shoved her to the ground and tried to snatch the cash from her hands.
“A violent struggle erupted as she fought to keep hold of her money,” said DC Clarke. “She valiantly tried to fend him off while passersby heard the commotion. McGuire eventually fled empty-handed but was arrested nearby shortly after.”
Justice Served for Courageous Victim
DC Clarke praised the victim’s bravery, saying, “This was an appalling crime against a vulnerable woman by a callous thug. She showed amazing courage not only during the attack but throughout the investigation.”
“We want everyone to feel safe in Grimsby town centre,” he added. “This sentence should send a strong warning to other offenders. We will do everything to bring criminals like Steven McGuire to justice.”
