Drug Dealer’s Dramatic Police Chase Ends Behind Bars
Ahmed Alkeldi, 30, made a run for it when cops spotted him acting shady in Sheffield’s Burngreave back in April 2018. But his escape plan didn’t last long.
Caught Climbing Fences Trying to Flee
PC Darren McKenna revealed: “When uniformed officers approached Alkeldi, he bolted at full speed down a nearby cul-de-sac, even scaling a 1.5-metre metal fence to get away. But the officers weren’t having it — one of them chased him over the fence and caught him on the other side.”
Drugs, Knife and Phone Seized on the Spot
During the arrest, Alkeldi tried to ditch packets of Class A drugs, a phone, and a knife. All were quickly recovered. Forensic tests on the seized items and other materials from his home led to charges of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of a bladed article.
Jail Time for Burngreave Dealer
Alkeldi, from Maxwell Way, Burngreave, pleaded guilty in July 2020. Yesterday (18 February), Sheffield Crown Court sentenced him to two years and ten months in prison.
“This is a positive win for Burngreave residents sick of drug dealing on their doorsteps,” PC McKenna said. “Cutting out dealers like Alkeldi weakens supply networks and opens the door for more police action. We urge the community to keep reporting suspicious activity—your tips really do help.”
