Staff Suspended as Police Launch Probe
Kids Planet Nursery in Wavertree saw its registration suspended by Ofsted until they are confident children can be kept safe. A 38-year-old man from Liverpool, accused of assault, has been put on leave while police investigate.
He was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault but has now been released on conditional bail. Merseyside Police confirmed the alleged victim, known to the suspect, is being safeguarded with support from specialist officers.
Nursery Responds, Vows Full Cooperation
Kids Planet Nursery stated: “On 20 March 2021, we became aware of an allegation that a member of staff behaved inappropriately with a child. We immediately reported the matter to all safeguarding authorities.”
They added the staff member was suspended straight away and the nursery is fully cooperating with police and safeguarding partners to get to the bottom of the claims.
Council and Ofsted Step In
A Liverpool City Council spokesperson confirmed they are working alongside police and Ofsted on the investigation. Ofsted slammed the nursery, revealing: “We have suspended the registration of the nursery as we have concerns regarding the provider’s ability to keep children safe.”
The probe is ongoing and the community remains on alert as questions swirl over how such an incident could happen in a previously well-regarded childcare setting.
