Eastbourne Brutal Attack: Fourth Man Gets 13 Years for Savage Assault
Maximiliano Pereira, 25, a cleaner from Seaside, Eastbourne, has been jailed for 13 years and three months for a vicious attack on St James Road back in October 2019. He is the fourth man to be sentenced for the violent assault.
Pack Attack in Dead End Street
The four Portuguese men cornered their 26-year-old victim in a dead-end road before launching a brutal assault. They punched, kicked, and stamped on his head repeatedly. Even as a passing fire crew tried to give first aid, the attackers attempted to continue the savage beating.
The victim suffered life-changing injuries and has been unable to return home since.
Men Flee, Later Caught and Convicted
After the attack, the men fled Eastbourne but were caught in southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton three days later on October 11. All were convicted of wounding with intent.
Pereira had pleaded not guilty but was found guilty by a jury after trial.
Investigator Speaks Out
“Maximiliano Pereira’s sentence means the four men responsible for this violent attack have been jailed for a combined total of almost 49 years,” said DC Elliott Lander.
“The judge described the assault as like a pack of animals cornering their prey. This attack has changed the victim’s life forever. He missed the birth of one of his children just a month after the assault and remains in a rehabilitation centre, 18 months on, unable to return home.”
“Thanks to everyone who supported our investigation. Our thoughts remain with the victim and his family as he fights to recover from his long-term injuries,” DC Lander added.
