Five Hospitalised After Night-Time Smash Between Bee Network Bus and Car in Salford
Chaos hit Blackfriars Road in Salford late Sunday when a Bee Network bus crashed head-on with a car. The serious collision left five people needing hospital treatment and forced the busy road to shut completely.
Emergency Crews Rush to Scene
The crash happened just before 10pm on December 29, right on the bridge between Mount Street and Lower Broughton Road. Firefighters from Salford and Leigh sprang into action, using specialist gear to free the bus driver and three passengers trapped inside.
“At just before 9:50 PM on Sunday, fire crews from Salford and Leigh were called to reports of a crash involving a car and a bus on Blackfriars Road, Salford,” said a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. “Firefighters extricated four people from the bus before handing them over to North West Ambulance Service. Crews worked alongside Greater Manchester Police to make the scene safe and were in attendance for around one hour and 20 minutes.”
Five Victims Taken to Hospital
According to the Manchester Evening News, five casualties were rushed to hospital following the collision. Details on their condition remain scarce.
Blackfriars Road Closed, Traffic Chaos Ensues
Blackfriars Road remains shut both ways between Great Clowes Street and Mount Street. Authorities expect the closure to last into the early hours as they clear the wreckage and investigate.
