Man Dies in Brutal Assault on Grand Union Canal Path

Aylesbury police are hunting for answers after a man suffered fatal injuries in a shocking attack near the Grand Union Canal.

Attack Shocks Canal Walkers

On Monday 26th April 2021, around 12.20pm, locals raised the alarm after hearing an assault near Bridge 14 along the popular canal path at Broughton, Aylesbury. Officers arrived to find the man seriously injured.

Despite desperate attempts by paramedics and police, the victim tragically died at the scene. His family have been informed and are receiving support from Family Liaison Officers.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

We need the public’s help to establish what happened on the canal path,” said Detective Chief Inspector Andy Shearwood of Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit. “The route is well-used by walkers, runners and cyclists, especially on sunny days like Monday.”

Investigators are urging anyone who was in the area and saw or heard anything unusual to come forward. You can report sightings or information by calling 101 or visiting the police website. Quote investigation reference number 845 (26/4).

Suspect Arrested, Search Continues

At this early stage, police have arrested a woman in connection with the assault. She remains in custody.

Authorities say one of the offenders was a man and are keen to trace all involved. Anyone with details is urged to contact Thames Valley Police immediately.
