Tragic Death of Little Girl After Watling Street Hit-and-Run
A young girl, known locally as Lilly, died after a horrific collision on Watling Street, near Meadow Way, in London.
Tragedy on Watling Street
The incident happened shortly after 6.50pm on Saturday 10 July. Lilly was walking when she lost a flip-flop, stepped back into the road to retrieve it, and was struck by a yellow Audi S1.
Firefighters rushed to the scene from a nearby station while neighbours called for an ambulance. Lilly was thrown a significant distance and admitted to hospital but sadly passed away the following evening, Sunday 11 July.
Driver Arrested and Released on Bail
A man in his 50s, driving the yellow Audi involved, was arrested before Lilly’s death. He faces charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while impaired. He has since been bailed until 3 August.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Officers want to hear from anyone who saw the collision, the pedestrian, or the vehicle beforehand. They urge anyone with dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage to come forward.
