A13 Shut Both Ways This Weekend for Major Upgrade

The A13 will be closed in both directions at the Stanford-le-Hope (A1014) junction this weekend. Overnight works start at 9pm on Friday 30 July and run until 5am Monday 2 August. Drivers face full closures as highway and drainage upgrades take place.

Traffic Diverted – Avoid Local Roads!

All traffic will be diverted via the junction’s exit and entry slip roads. Authorities warn drivers not to cut through nearby towns and villages to dodge queues. Local neighbourhoods should be spared congestion. Instead, non-local drivers are urged to use the A127 as an alternative route.

Part of Bigger A13 Widening Project

This weekend’s closures form part of the bigger A13 Road Widening Project. The work includes:

  • Adding an extra lane both ways between Stanford-le-Hope and Orsett
  • Replacing four bridges
  • Installing new traffic lights at Orsett Roundabout to ease vehicle flow

The improvements aim to slash congestion and smooth traffic along this busy stretch.
