Tragic Van Crash Claims Life of 72-Year-Old Woman

Emergency services were scrambled at around 10:55am on Thursday 5 August after reports of a van hitting a pedestrian on Princess Parade, New Road.

Police, paramedics, and the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service rushed to the scene to find a 72-year-old woman critically injured.

Despite desperate attempts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been informed.

Driver Stays at Scene as Police Investigate

The van driver remained at the scene, with officers launching an investigation. No arrests have been made so far.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam footage is urged to contact police on 101 immediately.
