Woman Attacked with Metal Chain in Hornchurch Park
Police were called at around 11:30am on Friday, 10 September after a shocking attack in Hornchurch Country Park. A woman in her 20s was sitting on a bench in Ingrebourne Valley when a man approached from behind and placed a metal chain around her neck.
The victim managed to free herself and ran from the park to safety.
Suspect Description Released
The attacker is described as a black man, dressed in dark clothes and smart pointed shoes. Witnesses say he had slicked-back black hair with a distinctive silver streak.
Police Step Up Patrols
PC Andy Tyler from the Havering local policing team said:
“This was a terrifying attack on a lone woman and I know it will cause concern among the wider community.”
“We have increased patrols in the area since the incident and I can assure you that we are doing all we can to track down the man responsible.”
