Rampage at Holiday Inn Express Sparks Arrest

Kent Police rushed to the Holiday Inn Express on Mount Pleasant, Minster just after 4pm on 28 January 2022 following reports of threats against hotel staff. Officers found bathroom tiles smashed and damage to signs and computer screens in the reception area.

Violent Arrest as Officers Attacked

During the arrest, several officers were assaulted, and further damage was caused to a police cell. Chaos erupted as the situation escalated.

Man Charged with Multiple Offences

Lewis Lonergan, 24, with no fixed address, was hit with serious charges. These include two counts of criminal damage, four counts of assaulting emergency workers, and three counts of threatening and abusive behaviour—one carrying a racially aggravated charge.

Next Court Date Set

Lonergan appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 31 January 2022 and was remanded in custody. His next hearing is scheduled for 28 February 2022 at Canterbury Crown Court.
