Masked Raiders Fail to Steal ATM but Snatch Cash in Early Morning Heist
In the dead of night at 2.35am on Friday 11 March 2022, masked men smashed through a store’s front door in a desperate bid to rip out the cash machine. They didn’t succeed in grabbing the ATM, but made off with cash from inside the premises.
Police Launch Helicopter Hunt for Getaway Car
Officers were swiftly deployed to the scene with backup from the National Police Air Service helicopter. Witnesses say the gang fled in a small dark car, possibly a Volkswagen Polo or a similar model, heading towards New Park roundabout.
Despite the police and aerial search, the culprits vanished without trace.
Cops Appeal for CCTV and Dashcam Footage
Detectives from the 1 Criminal Investigation Department are urging residents along Skipton Road and nearby streets to check their CCTV and doorbell cameras for any sign of the suspicious car at the time of the raid.
Motorists with dashcam footage are also asked to come forward.
