Chlorine Gas Leak Sparks Major Evacuation at London’s Olympic Park
A major incident has been declared after a chlorine gas leak at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Police and firefighters rushed to the scene, evacuating the entire area, including the Aquatics Centre.
Emergency Services Respond to Serious Gas Leak
The Met Police, London Fire Brigade, and London Ambulance Service (LAS) are all battling the crisis. LAS confirmed multiple casualties with breathing difficulties are being treated at the scene.
“We have dispatched multiple resources to the scene and are treating a number of patients,” the LAS said. “Please only call 999 for genuine medical emergencies and use 111 online for other urgent medical needs.”
Officials Urge Public: Avoid Olympic Park
The London Legacy Development Corporation, which manages the park, confirmed the gas release was at the Aquatics Centre and said teams are working closely with emergency services.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan urged locals to steer clear: “I remain in close contact with our emergency services who are dealing with a gas-related incident this morning. A number of people are being treated. Please avoid the area which has been cordoned off and evacuated.”
