Early Morning Drama in Medway Woodland
In the early hours of Sunday, 17 April, a panicked call came through. A man in the grip of a mental health crisis was in serious danger in Medway. Witnesses feared he had been injured before sprinting into nearby woodland under cover of darkness.
German Shepherd PD Fallon Leads the Rescue
Enter PD Fallon, an 18-month-old German Shepherd with a nose for trouble. Fallon instantly picked up the man’s scent and guided her handler, PC Scott James, through grassland. They crawled under a metal fence and plunged into dense woods.
After slogging through 80 metres of thick brambles, Fallon found the distressed man. It was clear he had multiple life-threatening injuries.
Rapid Response Saves the Day
PC James and Fallon were soon reinforced by colleagues from other police units. They sprang into action, applying urgent first aid to stem the severe bleeding.
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service arrived quickly and rushed the man to hospital for emergency treatment.
