Outrage as Disabled Passenger Left Waiting Over 90 Minutes on Gatwick Tarmac
Passenger’s Nightmare Unfolds at Gatwick
Journalist Sonia Sodha took to Twitter to blast Gatwick Airport after her disabled friend, Victoria, was left stranded on a plane for more than an hour after landing. “Hi @Gatwick Airport, my friend with a disability, Victoria, has been waiting for an hour on a plane that’s landed for getting on. This is completely unacceptable,” she tweeted.
Help Finally Arrives, But Too Late
After more than 90 minutes, Victoria was finally helped off the aircraft — but only after a fresh crew stepped in. “The assistance staff had yet to arrive,” Sonia revealed, slamming Gatwick’s “disgraceful service to people with disabilities.”
Gatwick Issues Apology Amid Investigation
Under mounting pressure, Gatwick Airport issued an apology: “The treatment received at Gatwick Airport was not acceptable, and I would like to offer our heartfelt apologies to Victoria.”
The airport confirmed the incident is now being investigated alongside Wilson James, the company responsible for assistance services.
