Officers responded to a disturbance report shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday (4 June) and arrested a woman on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm.
The officer was stabbed in the hand after being taken into custody in Mansfield.
After that, a 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
She has been released while the investigation is ongoing.
We’ve routinely stated that we will never tolerate this kind of behaviour against any of our officers or emergency service workers, who dedicate their lives and time to protecting the community from harm,” said Detective Sergeant Jo Eaton of Nottinghamshire Police.
Our officers put on their uniforms every day to go out into the streets and keep everyone safe, and they are always available to help if they are needed.” Nobody should have to go to work and be verbally or physically assaulted simply for doing their job.
“Fortunately, neither officer was seriously injured in the assaults, and both are being supported by specially trained officers.”
“I want to emphasise once more that anyone who believes it is acceptable to assault any officer or emergency service worker will be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action will be taken.”
