Kennie Carter, 16, died in hospital on Saturday, January 22, after suffering a fatal chest wound in a reported stabbing in Stretford.
Nine teenagers, aged 13 to 17, had already been arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail with conditions. Detectives re-arrested all nine on Tuesday morning, and the investigation is still ongoing. Eight have been re-bailed pending further investigation, while one remains in custody.
So far, investigators from the Major Incident Team have spoken with over 50 people, gathered over 100 hours of CCTV footage, and executed more than a dozen warrants.
Kennie’s death sent shockwaves through the community and has left a family still trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved one,” said Detective Chief Inspector Alicia Smith of GMP’s Major Incident Team.
Kennie was only 16 years old and had his entire life ahead of him, and our investigation has been ongoing since that evening.
