A Seventh Person Has Been Arrested In Connection With The Murder Of Lee Dawson In Preston

The 32-year-old Preston man was arrested overnight on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

It brings the total number of people detained in connection with the investigation to seven, following the arrests of six other men aged 18 to 29 earlier this weekend.

The Ambulance Service called police around 3 a.m. on Friday (June 17) after a man was discovered with stab wounds in Jutland Street.

Lee Dawson, 42, originally from Preston but now living in Sunderland, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment but later died, prompting a murder investigation.

Lee loved his children deeply and would do anything for them,” Mr Dawson’s family said in a tribute. He had a strong heart as well as a strong head. He was a large and friendly giant. Once you had Lee as a friend you had a friend for life. He lived his life to the fullest and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.”

Mr Dawson died as a result of stab wounds, according to a Home Office post-mortem examination.

The investigation into the death is still ongoing.

My thoughts remain with Mr Dawson’s loved ones at this time,” Det Ch Insp Mark Haworth-Oates of Lancashire Police’s Force Major Investigation Team said.

“While we have made a number of arrests, our investigations into Mr Dawson’s tragic death are still ongoing, and I would encourage anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident, or who has any information that could help our investigation, to come forward and speak with us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 101 and reference log 0149 of June 17.
