Two Men Who Forced Their Way Into A Dartford Home And Carried Out A Violent Knife Attack Have Been Sentenced To More Than 20 Years In Prison

Grant Odejeh and Elias Spencer stabbed the victim repeatedly as he lay defenceless on the floor, inflicting life-threatening injuries.

The assault occurred on November 20, 2021.

Odejeh had threatened the man while he was with family and friends in Temple Hill Square. Both parties were previously acquainted, and Odejeh warned, ‘You’re lucky I’m not doing you right now.’ I’m going to stab you and kill you.’

Odejeh then travelled to the victim’s home address, accompanied by Spencer and a third accomplice, shortly after making the threats.

They forced entry and chased the victim through the property, armed with knives, including a machete. The man tripped and fell to the ground, where he was stabbed and slashed repeatedly.

The attack occurred in front of the victim’s relative and his partner, who were also terrified for their lives.

The assailants then fled the scene, and the victim was rushed to the hospital by those who were also present. He was then flown to a specialist centre in London, where he was treated for critical injuries, including a severed artery in his leg.

Trial
Odejeh turned himself in at North Kent police station on November 22nd, knowing that officers were actively looking for him. Spencer turned himself in to the same station the next day.

Both men denied any wrongdoing at Maidstone Crown Court, and the case went to trial.

Odejeh, 20, of Knights Manor Way, Dartford, was found guilty of intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing a knife in a public place.

Spencer, 23, of South Road, Forest Hill, London, was also found guilty of the same charges. In addition, he was found guilty of perverting the course of justice in connection with threats made to a witness.

A third suspect, who was also apprehended, was not charged.

Odejeh was sentenced to ten years in prison on Thursday, June 30, 2022. Spencer was sentenced to ten years and six months in prison.

Frenzied
PC Scott Spedding of the County Line and Gang Team led the investigation, saying, ‘There can be little doubt that Odejeh and Spencer are excessively violent and extremely dangerous offenders.
They subjected the victim of this case to a terrifying and frenzied assault, clearly intent on causing the most harm possible.’It is only through good fortune and quick thinking on the part of his associates that the victim was not fatally wounded.’
