Huge Blaze in Swanley Sparks M25 Road Closures
More than 70 firefighters raced to stop two massive grass fires from tearing through Swanley and edging toward the M25. The flames erupted in a parched field on Beechenlea Lane, sending thick plumes of smoke visible from the other side of the motorway in Kent.

A swift deployment of 12 fire engines, a water carrier, and dozens of firefighters helped get the blaze under control fast. Kent Police shut down part of the M25 and warned locals they might face evacuation. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

Firefighters Battle Unpredictable Winds
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “Firefighters are battling tough conditions due to shifting winds pushing the fire in multiple directions.” The blaze has scorched about 12 acres – that’s six football pitches ablaze. Residents have been advised to keep windows and doors shut to block out the heavy smoke.
“If you spot a grass fire, don’t try to fight it yourself. Fires spread fast and unpredictably. Report smouldering grass immediately to the fire service with the location,” firefighters urge.
