Blaze Rips Through London Block – Multiple Rescued
A fierce fire tore through the second and third floors of an eight-storey building in London tonight. Firefighters raced to the scene, battling thick smoke and flames.
Heroic Rescues Amid Smoke and Danger
Station Commander Paul Green revealed firefighters in breathing gear saved a man trapped in a second-floor flat. London Ambulance crews rushed him to hospital for treatment.
Three more residents escaped with the help of firefighters wearing special fire escape hoods. A fourth was also helped out safely. All were treated for smoke inhalation, with three taken to hospital.
“Firefighters conducted a thorough search of the block, and two more people were assisted from the structure,” Commander Green added.
Gas Leak Sparks Explosion and Fire
The chaos started following an explosion caused by a suspected gas leak. Fire crews remain on site, as do emergency services enforcing a 25-metre safety cordon.
A section of Bethnal Green Road is closed and expected to stay shut for some time. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

- Response teams from Whitechapel, Shoreditch, Shadwell, Dockhead, Islington and nearby stations attended.
- The Brigade was dispatched at 5:53pm and is still working on the scene.
