Blaze guts half of London flat – man rescued in dramatic fire rescue!
Fire Tears Through First-Floor Flat
Early morning flames ripped through half of a four-room flat on the first floor. Firefighters spotted the blaze blazing behind a rear window as they arrived and quickly burst inside.
Heroic Rescue Amid Smoke and Flames
Crews wearing breathing apparatus soon found a man trapped in a bedroom. They rescued him swiftly and rushed him to hospital with London Ambulance Service medics on standby.
Warning: No Smoke Alarms Put Lives at Risk
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson slammed the lack of smoke alarms in the flat. “This incident is a stark reminder of why working smoke detectors are vital,” they said. Smoke alarms give the earliest alert when danger strikes.
Experts urge:
- Install smoke alarms in any room where a fire could spark
- Fit heat alarms in kitchens
- Test alarms regularly to ensure they work
Quick Response From Fire Crews
The blaze was reported at 2.37am and brought under control by 3.38am. Around 15 firefighters from West Hampstead and Willesden fire stations tackled the fire with three fire engines.
The Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade are now probing the cause of the fire.
